Red elderberry is an elegant native shrub. It has edible flowers that make a wonderful cordial syrup and bright red berries that are a favourite food source for birds.
It is a wonderful plant for erosion control and wildlife restoration plantings. At Nested, red elderberry is planted in dappled tree canopy shade, overarching sword ferns in a native woodland garden.
