Kale Perennial Homesteaders Grex Seeds
Kale Perennial Homesteaders Grex Seeds
Brassica oleracea var. ramosa
In stock
Homesteaders perennial kale is a reliable green for picking throughout the winter here on the West Coast. This seed mix was established by Chris Hominacs by crossing perennial tree kale with other colourful brassicas. Our parent plants here at Nested are not the most colourful but they are very tasty! The leaves are mild and have a hint of broccoli taste.
In the kitchen, we use the flowers to top salads and bowls. Stir fry the young flower heads and chop the greens to add to curries and soups as a replacement for spinach.
Here at Nested we winter sow perennial kale in milk jugs late autumn and direct sow in early spring. Homesteaders perennial kale will self-seed if the spent seed pods are left on the plant in autumn.
