Blackcurrants produce delicious deep purple/black berries mid summer. The darker the fruit gets the sweeter the berries will be. Blackcurrants are wonderful for making jams, syrups and cordials.
Water
Prefers cool moist soils. Once established they are drought tolerant and only require supplement waterings during dry spells.
Soil
Prefers well draining soils with lots of organic soil amendments.
Light
Prefers full sun (over 8 hours a day) but can be grown in partial shade. The fruit production will decrease with increased shade.
