Blackcurrants produce delicious deep purple/black berries mid summer. The darker the fruit gets the sweeter the berries will be. Blackcurrants are wonderful for making jams, syrups and cordials.
Water | Prefers cool moist soils. Once established they are drought tolerant and only require supplement waterings during dry spells. |
Soil | Prefers well draining soils with lots of organic soil amendments. |
Light | Prefers full sun (over 8 hours a day) but can be grown in partial shade. The fruit production will decrease with increased shade. |
