Anise hyssop is a drought tolerant perennial that has licorice scented leaves. Its leaves are wonderful for tea and the edible flowers can be used to decorate cakes or drinks. It. blooms all summer long and its purple flowers are a favourite of bumblebees.
Here at Nested we winter sow anise hyssop in milk jugs late autumn and direct sow in late winter to early spring. Anise hyssop will self-seed if the spent flower heads are left on the plant into autumn.
